“The Best Skiers in the West”
The Sun Valley Stampede Presented by POWDER is coming March 14–15, 2026—a brand-new winter competition and mountain festival on Bald Mountain’s Warm Springs terrain.
Skiers will take on a dynamic course that combines elements of racing, skier cross, natural terrain, and terrain park features. Competitors are evaluated on both their speed and style, with $2,500 awarded to the top male and female finishers. Qualifying rounds take place on Saturday and are open to athletes ages 13 and up. The best performers will move on to Sunday’s head-to-head finals. In the final round, top athletes from each age division will compete alongside invited professional skiers and fan-selected wildcard entrants to crown the Best Skier in the West. The winning male and female competitors will each earn $2,500* and a custom medal to mark their achievement.
The Warm Springs Base Area will turn into a lively festival space throughout the weekend. Guests can explore a Vendor Village filled with local businesses, product demos, and giveaways. There will also be an outdoor barbecue and bar, hosted with beverage partner Pernod Ricard. Live music will take place each day, featuring Aaron Golay and the Original Sin on Friday, Hooks and the Huckleberries on Saturday, and the Kris Lager Band on Sunday, along with DJ performances throughout the weekend.
