Here is how ice skating in the summer works.
Sun Valley Lodge Ice Rink
Sun Valley’s legendary outdoor rink sits just outside the Lodge at Sun Valley Resort. A terrace for dining separates the Lodge from the rink providing an audience no matter what time of day or night you take to the ice. Open daily, the outdoor rink is veiled by a retractable, translucent, awning letting the sun in while keeping the intense summer heat out. The outdoor rink offers incredible views, free-skate sessions, group or private instruction, and is the stage for the celebrated Sun Valley On Ice show. Yes, it’s true! Ice skating on the outdoor rink in Sun Valley during the summer months is nothing short of spectacular!
Sun Valley Skate House
Also open daily, the indoor rink at Sun Valley sits further behind the outdoor rink separated by the Sun Valley Skate House. Busy with lessons, competitive training programs, as well as the occasional hockey face-off, the indoor rink is not available for open free skate. Public viewing is allowed, and one peek might just catch you a look at a future Olympian or other skating professional honing skills for an upcoming performance.
Whether you are indoor or outdoor, a novice or more advanced, the Sun Valley Resort’s Skate House has everything necessary to get you on the ice. The friendly staff can help with skate rentals or you can bring your own. Need your blades sharpened? No problem! Need a helmet? The staff can take care of that, too! Want information regarding lessons and even private instruction? Consider it done!
In Sun Valley, it’s ready! Set! Skate! And, is an experience unlike any other. Don’t miss the magic! It’s fun for the whole family. For more information, simply call 208-622-2194.
