Can you hear those sleigh bells ringing? On your next trip to Sun Valley, plan a horse drawn sleigh ride, one of the quintessential winter activities! Weather dependent, horse-drawn sleigh rides are available from mid-December through March, with ticket sales launching as early as October.
Sleigh Ride Tours & Lengths
Sun Valley offers a variety of tours with different lengths and destinations to suit your taste. A crowd favorite is the dinner sleigh ride, which takes guests on a half hour sleigh ride to the Trail Creek Cabin for dinner. One hour scenic tours are also available, taking guests through the Trail Creek Golf Course and past local landmarks like the Hemingway Memorial. Private bookings are available for those looking for an intimate experience.
Book Your Sleigh Ride
It is highly recommended to book all rides well in advance, as they will fill up quickly! You can typically purchase tickets for dinner and sleigh rides beginning in early October. You can reserve your sleigh ride tickets by calling the Sun Valley Recreation Center at 208-622-2135 or by stopping in to the Sun Valley Nordic Center. Rides will leave from the Sun Valley Inn, which sits right in the middle of the Sun Valley Village, about five minutes outside of Ketchum.
Sleigh Ride Pricing
Sleigh ride pricing fluctuates based on peak season dates, which are typically the last couple weeks in December. Regular season rates for a scenic sleigh ride are around $25 per adult and $10 per child, with a small increase for peak season bookings. Children 2 and younger are always free. The dinner sleigh ride package includes dinner and gratuity, and is about $130 per adult and $75 per child, with rate increases for peak season and Presidents’ Week.
