Learn More About Sun Valley, Idaho >>
Sun Valley, America’s first destination ski resort, opened in 1936. Union Pacific Railroad provided direct service into the area at that time. The area became a playground or home for many celebrities, including Ernest Hemingway who finished For Whom the Bell Tolls in Suite 206 of the Sun Valley Lodge. Many movies have featured Sun Valley and the surrounding area.

Sun Valley is now a year-round resort featuring skiing, hiking and biking trails, tennis, trap shooting, indoor and outdoor swimming, bowling and horseback riding. Ice skating is available year-round on indoor and outdoor rinks. In the summer, outdoor ice shows featuring world-class professional and Olympic skaters are popular events.

The Sun Valley Music Festival offers its free summer symphony series in the Sun Valley Pavilion. Concert goers may sit in the Pavilion seating or enjoy a picnic on the expansive lawn surrounding it.

Shopping, fine dining and movies are located in the Sun Valley Village within walking distance of most condos and homes in that area. Shuttle bus service is available to many additional restaurants, stores and activities located in Ketchum.

In the winter, skiers and snowboarders can access Dollar Mountain and Bald Mountain (Baldy) from the Sun Valley Resort via convenient free shuttle buss.

Food options are varied. Stop by the charming Konditorei for breakfast or lunch and don’t leave without trying a delicious (and gorgeous) homemade pastry. For mid-day dining, head to the Poolside Café for a watermelon salad and flatbread pizza. End your day at Gretchen’s at their indoor/outdoor terrace – perfect for catching the last rays of the day.
